Easterseals NH Discusses Military & Veterans Campus on “We’ve Got Your Six” Podcast

Easterseals New Hampshire’s Chief Military and Veterans Services Officer Allen Aldenberg and Major Gifts Officer Kathy Flynn were recent guests on the “We’ve Got Your Six” podcast, hosted by Ginger Munson and Jeff Chidester on WFEA-AM Radio.

“We’ve Got Your Six” covers topics relevant to New Hampshire’s military community. It features interviews with service members and Veterans who share their experiences and discuss resources and services available to those who have served. Allen and Kathy joined the podcast to discuss the new Easterseals NH’s Military & Veterans Campus, which Allen oversees.

“Phase I of the Campus is scheduled to be complete in June of this year,” said Allen. “The sheetrock’s up, wiring’s done, plumbing is starting to go in, so exciting things are happening.”

Phase I of the Campus will include two affordable housing buildings containing 29 total apartments, a building connecting the two with an elevator, and the Bernadine Herron Center, which will consist of a retreat center, 22 hotel-style rooms, a conference center, and a hub of services for partner Veteran service organizations.

“The Veteran world can become very complicated,” said Allen, explaining the difficulties Veterans face when navigating life after military service. He hopes the Military & Veterans Campus will make life a little easier for those who have served by providing a hub where service members, Veterans, and their families can have their needs met and receive assistance.

Kathy explained the collaborative nature of the Military & Veterans Campus project. The services and programs provided at the Campus will be a collective effort among Easterseals NH and other Veteran service organizations.

“Throughout this whole process, we’ve had prospective Campus partner meetings,” Kathy noted. “Different organizations around the state, we’ve purposefully gotten together and shared information so that they’ve been brought along during the whole evolution of this.”

Allen and Kathy also discussed the second phase of construction, which, once completed, will feature many of Easterseals NH’s partner Veteran service organizations.

“There will be an equine facility, we’re going to have an indoor pool—we’re working with Swim With A Mission,” Allen said, referencing some of Easterseals NH’s partner organizations. “We’re going to have a K9 facility on-site—hopefully, we’ll finalize a partnership with Delta Dog so we can, you know, start partnering more Veterans with more K9s.”

In addition to partnerships with Veteran service organizations, the fundraising effort to make Phase II of the Campus possible is underway. “We are connecting with businesses, individuals, and foundations just trying to share information about the Campus,” Kathy noted, adding that Phase II construction opens up a wide variety of naming opportunities for donors.
