At nearly 5 years old, Mia is playful and full of imagination. But her path to this point wasn’t always easy.
Early on, Mia had strong fine motor skills but struggled with walking and speech. Through early intervention at the Easterseals New Hampshire West Side Early Childhood Center of Excellence, Mia received support to build strength and coordination. Staff addressed her delays promptly and offered guidance on next steps.
“That really gave me a lot of hope,” Mia’s mother, Karissa, says. “I was like, ‘OK, this place is legit.’”
From day one, Mia was encouraged to grow at her own pace. Today, she’s walking and talking on her own. “Everything that I thought she wasn’t going to be able to do, she does now,” Karissa says. “It’s night and day.”
