Roberta Coutu to Receive Eliot Priest Award at 10th Annual Farnum Spirit of Hope Event on May 2
Farnum Founder’s Award recognizes Coutu for her compassionate support of individuals in treatment for substance use disorders
Manchester, NH – Many unsung heroes are making a difference amidst New Hampshire’s opioid crisis. Roberta Coutu is one. Easterseals NH, VT & Farnum is proud to recognize Coutu for her impact with the Eliot Priest Founder’s Award at Farnum’s 10th Annual Spirit of Hope Event on Tuesday, May 2, at The Factory on Willow in Manchester.
“Roberta’s commitment to Farnum and the people we serve is boundless,” says Annette Escalante, Senior Vice President for Substance Use Treatment at Easterseals NH, VT & Farnum. “She makes everyone who comes through our doors feel safe and at ease at a difficult time in their lives. We are all inspired by her connection with our clients and their families.”
Coutu has worked for Farnum for eight years. She supports individuals with substance use disorders on and off the job, helping people enter sober living, providing warm clothing for individuals for the winter months, and listening to those who share their stories. She goes above and beyond to make the stay pleasant for clients at Farnum, stuffing holiday stockings and doling out goodies for special occasions.
Coutu offers this advice for others wanting to change the narrative for people in treatment and recovery: “Continue the awareness around substance use and mental health disease. Meet people where they are at and support them at any small or large milestone that they should encounter.”
The Eliot Priest Farnum Founders Award honors Eliot Priest and his legacy as the founder of the original Farnum Center in 1981.
The public is welcome and encouraged to attend Spirit of Hope on May 2 at 6:00 PM at The Factory on Willow, 252 Willow Street in Manchester. More information and tickets are available at farnumcenter.org/events.
