A licensed clinical social worker for the state of Vermont, Linda Uliva James worked for its Department for Children and Families for more than a decade, serving as the district director in Hartford from 2007 to 2017. From 2017 until her retirement in 2022, Linda was the policy and operations manager for DCF’s Family Services in Waterbury, overseeing multiple districts and program staff encompassing investigations, child and youth justice services, and permanency planning.
Before joining DCF, Linda was a pediatric continuing care manager at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH, providing case management services to families with complex psycho-social and behavioral issues.
She earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of New York at Albany and a master’s degree in social work from the University of Hawaii at Manoa in Honolulu. She has also been an active member of the Academy of Certified Social Workers since 1992.
In her free time, Linda enjoys volunteering, traveling, hiking, spending time outdoors, and spending time with her three grandsons.
